In terms of business observations, the CEO of MasterCard offered an insightful comment on the potential for contract wins. He was quite clear in his belief that certain retail firms who only accept AMEX are losing a significant amount of business. When this statement is taken at face value; in conjunction with the announcement by COSTCO Inc. that they are now moving into the opening of retail stores on mainland Europe, it implies that a major business conversion is being sought after.
